Welcome to Year 6!
This term our topic is South America.
In English, we will be looking at a range of texts, including non-chronological reports. Once we have explored some good examples, we will be writing our very own on an endangered species from South America. This term, we will also be reading some interesting stories based on World War II; this will help us develop our understanding of what it was like during this time so that we are prepared for next term's topic.
In Maths, we will be focusing on revising and improving our fluency in basic arithmetic skills such as addition, subtraction, division and times tables. We will also be developing our reasoning and applying skills. Please help us practise where you can!
Our new Science topic is 'Environment, Ecology and Evolution'. We will be thinking about what makes the Earth so special. We will be learning about different ecosystems and the living creatures which live there.
Our History and Geography will involve finding out more about South America and studying the Ancient Mayan Civilisation. In Art, we will be exploring a range of South American artists, including Frida Khalo, and using their creations to inspire our own. We will then develop these ideas through our Design and Technology where we will be using different textiles.
