Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

Our topic this term is World War II.

We have planned some exciting activities like

Trip to Bentley Priory

Working with WWII artefacts from Borehamwood Museum

Evacuation Day

We will investigate: Life during the war, Battle of Britain and how London was affected by the war.  We are planning to write eyewitness accounts, newspaper articles and reflecting on what it was like to be evacuated.  We are planning to use technology safely and create radio broadcasts.

In Maths we are revising and improving our fluency in basic arithmetic skills like addition, subtraction, division and times tables.  We are learning our reasoning skills and applying using number in various contexts like algebra, geometry and statistics.

Spring term overview

Participate in World Book Day!

Come to school on the day dressed in their night clothes: pyjamas, onesie, dressing gown etc.

Please make sure they all have a coat or an extra layer to wear outside on the playground so they stay warm.

Year 6 will be looking at 'Fireweed' by Lucy Mangan.

We have a range of class and whole school activities for the whole day.  We hope you will come into school and share some bed time stories with your child for the last twenty minutes of the day.

Please support us by dressing your child in their pyjamas or onesie and sending their favourite bedtime story to share with other children during the day and if you can join us at the end of the day we would be delighted to see you.

Look out for dates linked to World War II day
