Reading

This week your reading tasks are all about VE Day.

1. The first one is to read the KS1 Introduction to VE Day. Read it with one of your adults, and think about what it would have been like. Remember, the war had been going on for 6 years, which is almost all your life.

When you have read it can you make sure you know the meanings of these words. You can discuss them with an adult, or use a dictionary if you can and write the meanings.

The words are:

victory

conclusion

bunting

pealed

defeat

celebration

If you would like to find out more about World War 2 and VE Day, there is another longer presentation you can share with an adult.

2. The second task is to read and learn the words to ‘We’ll Meet Again' so you can sing it on VE Day

3. The final task is to complete one of the VE Day reading comprehension tasks. There are three to choose from. They get trickier as the numbers increase. If you don’t have a printer, don’t worry you can just write the correct answer. If it is a matching question, just write both halves of the answer together.
