Year 6 Spring Learning

Welcome to your child's 'Learning at Home' page. We have thought long and hard about the range of activities below which have been selected to enhance and develop their learning.

Work will be updated every Monday by 9.30am.

Welcome to Year 6!

This term our main theme this is World War II.

In English, we will be learning how to write an eye-witness account and then will use these skills to write one based on a night in the Blitz. In history, we will also be using our skills to write a letter home in the style of an evacuee.  Later on in the term, we will move on to some very creative and exciting writing which will be inspired by Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide.

In Maths, we will be continuing to focus on revising and improving our fluency.  We will also be further developing our reasoning and applying skills through solving many different problems.  Please help us practise where you can, especially by supporting your child with learning the time, using money and with their multiplication and division facts.

Our History will be based on World War II and, as well as our interesting lessons, we will be having a WWII day in school and a trip out to Bentley Priory, where we will learn more about how the Battle of Britain was won. Our Art this term is based on WWII and we will be developing our drawing skills through sketching planes, creating propaganda posters and creating our individual piece inspired by the war.
