Eco School & Sustainability
Here at Meryfield we are committed to sustainability and are putting measures in place to reduce our carbon footprint over the coming years. Some of the current measures we have in place include, actively encouraging children and parents to walk or ride to school, we have solar panels fitted to our roof, wild areas around the school to encourage wildlife in a more natural setting and retaining our Eco-schools Green Flag award.

The children enjoyed a recent trek around the school grounds to tidy the leaves - and enjoyed playing in them at the same time!

Earth Day - 2026
To celebrate Earth Day, our children took part in a range of exciting activities designed to help them learn more about caring for our planet. Throughout the day, pupils explored important environmental themes through creative art, outdoor learning, recycling challenges, gardening and discussions about how small actions can make a big difference. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and thoughtful ideas for protecting the world around us. We are incredibly proud of the children's commitment to looking after our environment and hope they will continue to share what they have learned with their families at home.
Recycling at Meryfield
As part of our commitment to caring for the environment, we are always looking for ways to reduce waste and recycle more. Did you know that our school collects used batteries, CDs, pens and textiles for recycling? We would be grateful if families could bring any of these unwanted items into school and place them in our designated recycling collection points. Every item recycled helps to reduce landfill waste and supports our Eco Schools work. Thank you for helping us make a positive difference to our local and global environment.
