I came Alexandra Gageto Meryfield in 2009 after teaching and being a part of the Senior Leadership Team in a number of Hertfordshire Primary schools as well as being the Head of Department for Physical Education in a large secondary school in the early part of her career. I was appointed as Deputy Head Teacher and subject leader for English in 2009. I have had the opportunity to teach a wide age range in a variety of contexts which has given me valuable experiences to use in my role as a senior leader and as a mentor to School Direct students and NQT’s.

I am very proud to have been part of Meryfield’s journey to success. The school has rapidly increased in size since I started and now has two forms in each year group from Nursery through to Year Six. I took over as headteacher in September 2017.

I love the diversity that the children and families bring to Meryfield and the importance that is placed on developing the whole child whilst keeping the focus on continually striving to raise standards in reading, writing and maths. I see Meryfield as a happy environment for everyone who learns and works here, both children and adults, and every day presents a new and exciting challenge.

Having a young daughter who is in attendance to our wonderful school, I is passionate about supporting and contributing to the continual development of Meryfield. This is along with the ambition of being part of the wider team, charged with continuing the great work done day in day out providing a happy school for our children.

I have a sharp mind, like to think outside the box and am never deterred from expressing my ideas for seeking improvement.

I am a hospital doctor specialising in Respiratory Medicine and General Internal Medicine in London. I have had a longstanding interest in education and am passionate about supporting the holistic development of children so that they can fulfil their potential. Given the interplay between education, physical health and emotional well-being, I am keen to support the school in meeting and advancing its priorities in relation to student welfare.

I graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a BA in History in 2014. Following on from this I completed a CIM (Chartered Institute for Marketing), Certificate in Professional Marketing.

During my time at Leeds Met, I acted as a course representative, and went on to be elected Student Union representative for all course reps in my faculty. I sat on several academic committees, including my faculty’s Learning & Teaching committee the university’s Academic & Quality Standards Committee. This gave me the unique opportunity to work alongside senior leaders in the university and provide feedback into the strategy, standards and quality of education in my faculty and the wider university.

I currently serve as Project Manager at Clear Channel, specialising in websites and marketing automation. I also serve as the Chair of the Women's Network.

I am passionate about education and supporting children, I am also deeply involved in my community, serving as a Governor for both Meryfield Community Primary School and a local secondary school.

I am proud to work at Meryfield as an Early Years practitioner and value giving all children the best opportunities that I can provide to support them with their learning and development. I have worked in education since 2012 , having previously worked in local government and then retrained.

I live locally and understand the challenges our community can face which is why I am passionate about helping to raise the aspirations for our children. I have three daughters, two who are now studying in higher education and one child currently at Meryfield.
