Alex came to Meryfield in 2009 after teaching and being a part of the senior leadership team in a number of Hertfordshire Primary schools as well as being the Head of Department for Physical Education in a large secondary school in the early part of her career. She was appointed as Deputy Head Teacher and subject leader for English in 2009. Alex has had the opportunity to teach a wide age range in a variety of contexts which has given her valuable experiences to use in her role as a senior leader and as a mentor to School Direct students and NQT’s.

Alex is very proud to have been part of Meryfield’s journey to success. The school has rapidly increased in size since she started and now has two forms in each year group from Nursery through to Year Six. She took over as headteacher in September 2017.

Alex loves the diversity that the children and families bring to Meryfield and the importance that is placed on developing the whole child whilst keeping the focus on continually striving to raise standards in reading, writing and maths. Alex sees Meryfield as a happy environment for everyone who learns and works here, both children and adults, and every day presents a new and exciting challenge.
