Meryfield PE

At Meryfield, we aim to provide children with a positive attitude towards exercise and teach them important skills which they will carry into later life. We want the children to understand that participating in sport is important for our well-being both physically and mentally. We want to develop their basic physical skills as well as their confidence and set the foundations for a physical and active healthy lifestyle.

A positive attitude towards physical activity is cultivated across EYFS and Key Stages 1 and 2, with an emphasis on inclusion and the belief that every child can achieve success in PE. Lessons are delivered by class teachers, supported by comprehensive planning using the Get Set 4 PE platform, which coincides with our aims, our approach and the objectives laid out in the National Curriculum. Get Set 4 PE is planned in such a way that the children are increasingly challenged year by year through the progression which is built into the scheme. Each term, the children learn four different sports and activities to ensure they are exposed to a variety of activities to open up doors of opportunity for them.
