This term our topic is 'People who Help Us.'
In Literacy, we will be exploring a range of stories. We will also be exploring non-fiction information books to find out about the different jobs that people do to help us.
For children due to move up to Reception in September we will be using the Read Write Inc. phonics scheme, to introduce the set 1 sounds in preparation for Reception.
For those children that joined us in the Spring and Summer terms they will also have daily phonic sessions, focussing on phase 1 of the ‘Letters and Sounds’ programme- this will be done through lots of listening and attention games.
In Maths, we will be practising our counting skills and number recognition up to 10. This will be done through songs, stories and every day routines. We complete the weather chart daily and talk about the days and months of the year. We will also be going for number walks and looking for numbers in our local environment.
In the broader curriculum, we will ask questions about the world around us, and think about the different jobs that people do to help us. We will also be learning about the life cycles of tadpoles.
We are also going to be planting seeds and plants in our Early Years Garden and helping them to grow.
In RE, we will talk about how we show care and concern for each other and how we can help others.
We will also express ourselves musically by singing songs, playing instruments and using body percussion.
This term, in our PE lessons we will be introducing ball skills including rolling, throwing, catching, aiming and kicking.
As part of our PSE, we will be following the Jigsaw scheme of work and thinking about relationships with our family and friends. In our play we will continue to develop our turn taking skills and form friendships.
