Believe and Achieve

Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

This term our main theme this is Changes.

In English, we will be working on our grammar through reading some exciting new texts that will inspire our writing such as The Firework-Maker's Daughter by Philip Pullman.  We will be learning to write suspense stories that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat!

In Maths, we will be focusing on improving our fluency.  We will also be developing our reasoning and applying skills through solving many different problems.  Please help us practise where you can, especially by supporting your child with learning the time, using money and with their multiplication and division facts.

Our History and Geography will be an exploration of the local area and region; we will be looking at how Borehamwood has expanded over the years and the impact immigration has had on the area. In Art, we will be experimenting with a range of media through exploring portraiture, Manga art, creating fruit pinch pots and wave bowls!  This summer will involve a range of sport in PE including cricket, athletics and rounders.

As we are coming to the end of Year 6, we will be carrying out lots of little projects, supporting the children with their transition to secondary school and going on our residential trip - how exciting!
